Course breakdown

Digital technology has transformed the way we plan, design, and deliver restorative dentistry — but between marketing promises and real-world limitations, it can be difficult to know what truly adds value. This presentation takes a candid look at where digital dentistry really stands today. From digital impressions and virtual articulation to implant workflows and full-mouth reconstructions, we’ll explore what’s working, what’s not, and how to integrate digital tools meaningfully into everyday practice.

By the end of this session, participants will:

  • Gain an understanding of current trends and technologies shaping digital restorative workflows.
  • Identify which aspects of digital dentistry provide genuine clinical and efficiency benefits — and which remain more hype than help.
  • Recognize the key components of a practical, streamlined digital workflow that can be adapted to various restorative scenarios.
  • Explore how digital data — from digital scans to virtual articulation — can enhance treatment planning, communication, and patient outcomes.
  • Understand the limitations, costs, and implementation challenges of digital systems in real-world practice.

Learning Objectives:

Participants will leave with:

  • A clear, realistic perspective on the current state of digital restorative dentistry.
  • Practical strategies for integrating digital tools — from scanning to design to fabrication — into everyday workflows.
  • Insight into balancing technology with clinical judgment for predictable, efficient, and patient-centered results.
  • An understanding of how digital systems can support complex restorative, aesthetic and implant cases without overcomplicating the process.
