Part 1: Advanced Local Anaesthesia

One of the common comments from patients on what makes a “good dentist” is the ability to provide treatment without pain. This seminar will review the pharmacology of local anaesthetics, the anatomy that dentists are presented with, and troubleshooting techniques, tips, and gadgets that will help you make your patients comfortably numb throughout their appointments with you.

Learning Objectives:

  • A review of the three mandibular block techniques that you could deliver
  • Reasons for anaesthetic failures
  • Tips and tricks to prevent or overcome patient discomfort

Part 2: Medical Emergencies in the Dental Office

This course will review some of the causes and predictors of medical emergencies in the dental setting. The session will review patient assessment, medical emergency kits contents, and office equipment, as well as protocols for your team to follow. The discussion will make use of scenarios to help us practice the management of medical emergencies.

Learning Objectives:

  • To review the incidence and etiologies of common/dangerous medical emergencies
  • To review medical emergency kit contents and their proper use
  • To improve the management of medical emergencies by the dental team
